What it is
Teriparatide is a daily parathyroid-hormone fragment that builds bone when pulsed. Forteo / biosimilars are osteoporosis drugs.
Benefits in plain language
What researchers and reference users usually mean when they talk about this compound. These are study themes and common claims — not a promise that it will do this in you.
- The benefit is new bone in people at high fracture risk — anabolic, not just anti-breakdown.
- Bodybuilding “PTH for gains” talk is off-mission and a bad idea.
- Lifetime duration caps exist on the label for a reason.
If a branded, FDA-approved product exists, that label is the only dose that is actually authorized. Research-chemical vials are a different object.
Mechanism of action
Intermittent PTH1R activation stimulates osteoblasts more than osteoclasts; continuous PTH does the opposite.
Possible side effects / caveats
Hypercalcemia, dizziness, boxed warning history around rodent osteosarcoma (see current insert), and duration limits.
