What it is
Teduglutide is a GLP-2 analog that tells the remaining intestine to grow more absorptive surface. It is a short-bowel drug (Gattex), not a gym peptide.
Benefits in plain language
What researchers and reference users usually mean when they talk about this compound. These are study themes and common claims — not a promise that it will do this in you.
- On-label benefit: fewer liters of IV nutrition for people with short bowel.
- The “grow the gut lining” idea is why BPC/KPV crowds sometimes name-drop GLP-2. They are not interchangeable.
- Polyp surveillance exists because growth signals in the gut are not a free lunch.
If a branded, FDA-approved product exists, that label is the only dose that is actually authorized. Research-chemical vials are a different object.
Mechanism of action
GLP-2 receptor agonism increases intestinal villus height, blood flow, and barrier function.
Possible side effects / caveats
Fluid overload, stoma enlargement, gallbladder/pancreas warnings, theoretical neoplasm risk — read the insert.
