α-MSH fragment Lys-Pro-Val
KPV
Cited range Anti-inflammatory fragment
What it is
KPV is the C-terminal tripeptide of α-melanocyte-stimulating hormone. It is studied for anti-inflammatory effects with far less pigment activity than Melanotan peptides.
Benefits in plain language
What researchers and reference users usually mean when they talk about this compound. These are study themes and common claims — not a promise that it will do this in you.
- A tiny anti-inflammatory fragment of alpha-MSH.
- Gut and skin people use it when the problem looks like “angry barrier” — IBD-style models, rashes, gut lining talk.
- Often oral or topical in community notes, sometimes next to BPC.
- Immune-calming is the theme, not muscle growth.
If a branded, FDA-approved product exists, that label is the only dose that is actually authorized. Research-chemical vials are a different object.
Mechanism of action
Melanocortin-receptor and intracellular uptake stories appear in IBD and dermal inflammation models. It is a fragment, not full α-MSH.
Possible side effects / caveats
Generally discussed as well tolerated in secondary sources; human dose-finding is weak. Do not assume “no pigment risk” is proven for every formulation.
